| A Volume Shipment is one that in most cases is more than 8 pallets or 12 linear but less than a full truckload. There are lots of variables that go into this such as the dimensions of the pallets. Are they stackable? Are they over 2000 lbs per pallet? Are they longer than a standard 40x48 inch pallet? Benefits of shipping Volume Shipments are typically less handling, but not always as they may get transferred at times. You also can get an overall better price in most cases, but there are some drawbacks that you must be aware of. |

| One drawback on moving items as a Volume Shipment is that they tend to move slower than standard LTL transit times. In lieu of a lower price, they don’t move as quickly so if you need the goods delivered timely, be sure to let us know so we can act accordingly. More importantly is that Volume Shipments tend to have a lower released value of liability. What this means is that if a standard LTL class 100 shipment has a $5.00 per lb. liability, the Volume Shipment may have a liability as low as .10 cents per lb. depending on who the carrier is that moves your goods. This means that you are absorbing liability for your company and you may not even know it. Alpha Quantum Logistics specifically advises our clients on released liability when it comes to Volume Shipments. We can offer additional Supplemental Insurance coverage when we are specifically asked in writing as well. Our goal is simple as it pertains to Volume Shipments – Protect our client’s goods while in transit with additional insurance if so requested. |
